Description
De Magere Stoel is a custom chair that was made as part of our bespoke service. The chair is not available for purchase, but may serve as a model for a custom piece specially made for you.
Placed in the living room to accompany a secretary desk, the chair was conceived to serve multiple purposes at the same time: offering the right posture for desk work, affording a comfortable seat for more leisurely moments, while attracting attention as a stylish piece on its own.
The defining feature of the chair is its elegant, delicate body, earning it the name De Magere Stoel (‘The skinny chair’). Thanks to the inherent strength of ash wood and the strategic use of reinforcing rails and stretchers, the chair maintains structural rigidity despite its slender components.
De Magere Stoel also showcases some of Espenaer’s signature style elements, like visible hand-cut joinery, triple rails, and (curved) peaks, revealing the fine craftmanship that was put into this piece. The seat was made with reclaimed leather.
