Description
Het Espresso Kabinet is a custom cabinet and was made specially for a client as part of our bespoke service. It is not available for purchase, but may serve as a model for a custom piece specially made for you. Het Espresso Kabinet is designed to serve as a stand for an espresso machine and offers storage underneath through a drawer.
frame_inspectAnatomy
expand_circle_downThe cabinet consists of three elements: a central case, a table base, and a table top. The central case follows a frame and panel construction, where the frame styles and rules are made out of black walnut and are joined with bridle joints and blind mortise-and-tenon joints. The panels are made out salvaged bird cherry and fit into the frame with tongue-and-groove joints. A front drawer gives access to the inside of the cabinet for storage. The drawer has a handmade handle with fine details, like the dovetail joint.
The case is attached to the table base with thin triple rails, which gives an airy aesthetic to the cabinet and makes it look as if the case is hanging. These triple rails also connect the four legs of the table to one another. The triple rails are made out of the same salvaged bird cherry, whereas the table base is made out of walnut. A thick and sturdy walnut table top rests on the table base.
carpenterCrafting history
expand_circle_downHet Espresso Kabinet was entirely crafted by hand. All the joinery in this cabinet was created fully with traditional hand tools, including dovetail saws and chisels. The milling/dimensioning of stock was done through a combination of machining and hand work. Het Espresso Cabinet was finished with three coats of hardwax oil.
