The skill of improvising
As a woodworker you are often confronted with practical problems that you need to solve at the spot. Recently it happened that we needed a piece of a particular thickness, but we soon figured we hadn’t any stock left that was thick enough. We didn’t have time to go back to the lumberyard, so we improvised by laminating thinner stock to create a piece that was thick enough for the purpose. This time we could permit ourselves to go this way, because this particular piece would not be in sight.
