The earlier prepared styles and rails are now fitted. Meanwhile also making shelves out of reclaimed timber and dowels from some scrapwood.
It’s spring! Shot of the Japanese maple in front of the atelier.
Continuing a project for the atelier in the meantime. These decorative grooves were added with a combination plane.
The modification process is going well. The hand-shaped round tenons now have a split through the middle to allow for a wedge. Meanwhile, I have filled in the old screw holes and created new ones in the table legs.
The second step in the modification of the table is the actually shortening of the table legs from the top. Since the table legs fit into the aprons with wedged through tenons, these need to be cut into the shortened legs too.
A different project this time. The customer wishes to modify the height of this vintage Thonet table. Since we would like to keep the shape of the legs at the bottom, shortening the legs from the bottom is not an option. The table needs to be disassembled in order to shorten the legs from the top.
