We are happy to introduce the latest addition to our portfolio, Wortelen, a custom table made as part of our bespoke service. Wortelen was built with reused materials only and has the honor of being the most sustainable piece ever created by Atelier Espenaer!
Wortelen has an intricate base with multiple irregularly dimensioned legs and rails, inspired by the irregularity of the roots of the old bonsai tree that it now supports. ‘Wortelen’ is Dutch for roots.
Wortelen was entirely crafted by hand using traditional tools and techniques. The table base was made out of meranti reclaimed from the very building it now resides in, as well as salvaged black locust from Amsterdam. A beautifully figured reclaimed marble top rests on top of the table base.
